The real reason why we graphic designers are hating on Apple is not because we didn’t like the new MacBook Pro with Touch bar, we’re hating more on Apple because Microsoft offered a better device. And you and I both know that as graphic designers, the Surface Studio offers us more than just function. We lust for it! For some of us this “forces” us to switch sides. We feel bad because as designers we identify with Apple and their design philosophy.

Apple’s computers were once the gold standard reserved for creative professionals and graphic designers: top notch build-quality that used to be non-existent in the PC world. Owning a Mac in the past was a status symbol of the creative professionals, a statement in a PC dominated world. Apple’s recent shift in focusing more on the mainstream market, kind of antagonized this status. Now even my grandmother owns a Mac! Apple’s doesn’t put the creative professional in mind when creating its devices. Their devices are now anything but pro... well, at least compared to Microsoft's Surface line up, which screams "creative pro."
Most of us feel ignored and left out. Our loyalty seemed betrayed. Sure we're a small piece of the market, but Apple forgot that if we didn't stick with them in the early days they wouldn't enjoy their status quo today.
I hope they’d remove that “pro” monicker on their devices. Their MacBook Pro and iPad Pro is anything but pro. Apple, I’m a graphic designer don’t insult my intelligence. I know a pro device when I see one!
